MIT Institute of Design (MITID), located at Rajbaug Campus, Loni Kalbhor, Pune, offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in design. The institute focuses on developing creative thinking, design aptitude, innovation and practical skills to prepare students for careers in the design industry.

About the Test

MITID DAT (MIT Design Aptitude Test)

MITID DAT is the entrance examination for admission to the Bachelor of Design (B.Des) and Bachelor of Design Fashion programmes at MIT Institute of Design, Pune.

The selection process includes the Design Aptitude Test, followed by a Studio Test and Personal Interview for shortlisted candidates.

Eligibility

  • Candidates must have completed or be appearing for Class 12 (10+2) from a recognised board.
  • Students from any stream can apply, including HSC, CBSE, ICSE and IB.
  • Minimum marks required: 45% for General/Open category candidates.
  • A 5% relaxation is applicable to eligible reserved-category candidates and persons with disabilities belonging to Maharashtra State, as per the institute's rules.
  • Candidates appearing for their Class 12 examinations can apply, but admission is confirmed only after successfully passing the examination.

Age Limit: 20 years for B.Des programmes, as specified on the official website.

Admission Process

PHASE 1 – MITID DAT (Design Aptitude Test)

Candidates must appear for the design entrance examination. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to the next stage based on their performance.

PHASE 2 – Studio Test and Personal Interview

Shortlisted candidates must attend the Studio Test and Personal Interview at the MIT Institute of Design campus in Pune. Final selection is based on the institute's selection criteria.

How to Apply

  1. Visit the https://www.dat.net.in/register/index.php?utm_source=mitid-website
  2. Complete the online registration form.
  3. Register using your email ID and mobile number.
  4. Activate your account through the verification link sent to your registered email ID.
  5. Fill in the application form and upload the required documents.
  6. Pay the application fee:
    • Indian applicants: ₹3,000
    • NRI, PIO, OCI and foreign-national applicants: ₹4,500
  7. Accept the declaration and submit the application form.
  8. After verification and acceptance of the application, the admit card will be generated and sent to the registered email ID. Candidates can also download it through their portal profile.

Note: Applications are accepted online only. The application fee is non-refundable.

  • Class 10 marksheet
  • Class 12 marksheet, where available
