National Entrance Screening Test (NEST) is a compulsory test for students seeking admission to National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) Bhubaneswar and University of Mumbai - Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CEBS), Mumbai. Both NISER and UM-DAE CEBS were set up by Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India in 2007. Their mandate is to train scientific manpower for carrying out cutting edge scientific research and for providing input to scientific programmes of Department of Atomic Energy and other applied science institutions in the country. NEST 2020 will be conducted in around 91 cities across India.

Eligibility Criteria

 

  • Education Qualification: Candidate should be from regular science stream only in classes XI and XII. Admission will be offered strictly on the basis of Merit List of NEST 2020. candidates must have passed class XII examination or equivalent from any recognised Board in India in the years 2018 or 2019 or be appearing for the same in 2020. Candidates must secure at least 60% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade in class XII examination
  • Age Limit:  Born on or after August 01, 2000. For SC/ST/PwD students the limit is relaxed by five years.

 

Reservation of seats

OBC-NCL: 27% 
SC/ST: 15% and 7.5%
PwD: 5%

 

How to apply

 

Step 1: Registration: Once you click ‘Apply Online’. you will see an intermediate page asking for ‘New Registration’ and ‘Login’. 
Step 2: login credentials: user name and password, are sent to the e-mail that you provided during registration. 
Step 3: Once logged in, information is collected about your personal details and educational qualifications.

Application fee

  • The application fee for the male candidates of General and OBC categories is 1200/–.
  • The application fee for candidates in the SC/ST/PwD categories and for all female candidates is 600/–.
  • Payments can be made using credit card/debit card/net–banking through online payment gateway.

Admit Card

 

The admit card for NEST 2020 will be available for downloading from April 24, 2020. Admit cards will NOT be dispatched to any applicant. Applicants must download their admit cards from NEST website (after login). The download link will be available only till the day of the examination
