Introduction

The nation's first institution of fashion education, NIFT has led the way in supplying the textile and clothing sector with qualified labour. It has full-fledged campuses all around the nation and was established a statutory institute in 2006 by an act of the Indian Parliament with the President of India serving as "Visitor." Over the years, NIFT has also provided information services to the Union and State governments in the areas of handloom design and handicraft positioning.

(Undergraduates Programmes):

The Fashion Design programme, a centerpiece of NIFT, has contributed significantly to the development of the Indian fashion sector. The curriculum sharpens a design sensibility that strikes a balance between Indian soul and worldwide fashion aesthetics. It attends to the requirements of the Indian export market in addition to couture and pret-a-porter. Students may conceptualise design, create patterns, drape, and produce clothes of the highest quality through logical, progressive hands-on learning.
