About Us
Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, Solan, was established on 1st December, 1985 with the objective to promote education, research and extension education in the fields of horticulture, forestry and allied disciplines. Late Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar, the 1st Chief Minister and the architect of Himachal Pradesh perceived the importance of horticulture and forestry to develop and improve the State economy which led to the establishment of this University. Its history lies in erstwhile Himachal Agricultural College, Solan, established in 1962 and affiliated to the Panjab University, Chandigarh. It became one of the Agriculture campus of Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla on its formation in 1970. Consequent upon the establishment of Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya, Palampur in 1978, this campus became its Horticulture Complex and finally in 1985, assumed the status of a State University, being the only University in the country engaged exclusively in teaching, research and extension in horticulture and forestry.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who have passed 12th or equivalent examination with English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Mathematics from a recognized board with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks. |
Candidates who have passed 12th or equivalent examination with English along with three subjects from the following : Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Mathematics, Agri Physics, Agri Chemistry, Agri Bology & Agriculture from a recognized board with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks. |

The Normal Seats shall be filled through an Entrance Test , for which only bonafide/ residents of Himachal Pradesh are eligible to appear/ apply. The candidates, who have appeared in 12th examination with above subjects in the year 2025 are eligible to apply. |
The Self - Financing Seats shall be filled on the basis of percentage of marks obtained in 12trhg level in any four above mentioned subjects. The Self-Financing Seats are OPEN for all at National Level except the seats specially reserved for the candidates belonging to North-eastern region & J&K (UT). |
Admission Process
Candidates applying via Normal Seats i.e. only bonafide/ residents of Himachal Pradesh must appear for Entrance Test conducted by Dr. Y. S. Parmar University of Forestry & Horticulture, Nauni-Solan.
