Introduction

Chemistry was born from instability; everything around us is the result of that instability. From the chemical reactions in our body to things around us like table, chair, fans everything includes chemistry in the form of atoms. Chemistry indeed is beautiful, it is beautiful not because of its fancy equations or its colours but because of its nature.

This entire universe is the amalgamation of matters like hydrogen, helium and dark matter. Sun- the biggest star of the universe is a huge ball of helium (fusion reaction) which constantly releases a lot of energy.

What do chemists do?

Who do you think ensures the smell and taste of chocolates or roses? – Chemists!

They are the ones who check if your deodorants and antiperspirants are operating properly and also evaluate the perfume.

Sounds much better than a boring desk job?

How tasty was what you ate for breakfast?

What can I do after chemistry degree?

  • Toxicologist- Everything is made up of chemicals. Toxicologist identifies the harmful effect caused by differentchemicals; by doing that they are able to provide advice on safe and harmful levels of exposure.

  • Geochemist- Earth comprises four separate layers- inner core, outer core, mantle and crust. Geochemist uses the chemistry principles to explain the mechanism of these layers.

  • Oceanographer - oceanographer studies marine life and ecosystems to currents and waves etc. They check the chemical compounds and pollution level in the ocean and sees if the fishes can survive or not.

  • Brew master- Brew master is in charge of mineral content, temperature, yeast pitch rate, aeration and length of the fermentation in the process of making beer.

  • Assayer-Assayer is someone who is responsible for conducting tests on the metals. Some assayers analyze samples to find specific types of ores or precious metals, such as gold, silver, or platinum.
