About Us

The Army Institute of Fashion & Design (AIFD) was established in Bangalore on October 4, 2004 under the aegis of the Army Welfare Education Society (AWES) to impart quality education in the field of Fashion Design & Interior Design to the wards of Army Personnel, both serving and retired. It is one of twelve leading institutes of higher education managed by AWES which also manages 137 Army Public schools and 249 Army Pre-Primary Schools all over the country. UG Degree program affiliated to Bengaluru North University.

 

Courses & Duration

 

  • B.Sc FAD (Fashion And Apparel Design) (4yrs)
  • B.Sc IDD (Interior Design And Decoration) (4yrs)

 

Eligibility

 

  • 12th Pass (any stream).
  • Children of serving Army personnel with minimum 10 years continuous service in the Army (Submit Certificate No 1).
  • Children of ex Army personnel granted / awarded regular pension, liberalized family pension, family pension or disability pension at the time of their superannuation, demise, discharge, release medical board / invalid Medical Board. This includes wards of recruits medically boarded out and granted disability pension.
  • Adopted / Step Children and Children of Re-married Widows :-
    (i)
    Adopted child of Army personnel if adopted at least five years prior to seeking admission.
    (ii) Step children are eligible provided they are born from a wedding where at least one parent belonged to the Army who is otherwise eligible.
  • Eligibility Criteria in Special Cases :-
    (i)
    Eligibility Criteria for Wards of Ex Army Medical Corps Officers / Army Dental Corps Officers Presently Serving with Indian Navy or Indian Air Force (IN / IAF). Wards of only those ex Army medical officers / Army Dental Corps officers presently serving with Indian Navy or Indian Air Force who have served with the Army for 10 years
  • Eligibility Criteria for Children of APS / MNS / TA Personnel :-
    >
    Wards of APS personnel classified as ex-servicemen as per Govt of India, Ministry of Defence letter No 9 (52)/88/D (Res) dated 19 Jul 89.
    > Children of those APS personnel who are on deputation and who have put in 10 years of service in the Army.
    > Children of APS personnel, who are directly recruited into APS who have completed 10 years of service and of those who as per their terms and conditions of service, retired from APS without reversion to P&T Department after completing their minimum pensionable service of which 10 years was in the Army.
    > Children of only those members of MNS who have 10 years service as regular members of MNS or are in receipt of pension from the Army.
    > Children of only those TA personnel who have completed 10 years of Embodied Service.
    > Wards of IN and IAF personnel, both serving and retired will be considered on availability of Vacant Seats
    > Wards of serving personnel of Assam Rifles will be considered on availability of Vacant Seats
    > Wards of Non Karnataka civilians will be considered on availability of Vacant Seats Based on a valid OAT score of AIFD The eligibility mentioned in af, ag & ah are under consideration and will be applicable / implemented only on approval of HQ AWES, Delhi.

     
  • Physical Fitness 
    Besides fulfilling the eligibility conditions , the candidate should be certified by MH / RMO / Registered Medical Practitioner as physically and mentally fit to pursue the course. A certificate to this effect in the enclosed form is required to be submitted by the candidates at the time of admission.

 

Selection Process 

 

Written  Admission Test (WAT) 2024 for admission to the UG Courses.

 

Test Structure

 

WAT will consist of 100 Marks objective type test items to be responded to by the candidates in the allocated duration of three hours. The test will have the following components:-

  • Intelligence and Reasoning Test.
  • General Awareness Test.
  • English Language Competency & Comprehension Test. (including short essay)

NOTE 

  • The medium of the test shall be English only
  • No negative marking will be done.

Payment of balance of Institute and Hostel Fee and last date to withdraw the seat if the balance fee is not paid or candidate fails to withdraw seat, seat will be allotted to waiting list candidates and the registration fee will be forfeited.
