About AFMC
Armed Forces Medical College is a premier Medical Institute of India acknowledged as a centre of excellence for Education and Research. The college provides training to under-graduate and post-graduate medical and nursing students with assured career prospects in the defence services. The Institute was set up on 01 May 1948 by the recommendations of the BC Roy Committee by the amalgamation of various Defence Medical Organizations. The "Graduate Wing" of AFMC was established on 04 August 1962 to provide a sustainable and steady intake of Medical Officers for the Indian Armed Forces. The Institute is presently affiliated to the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences and is recognized by the MCI for conducting undergraduate and various post graduate medical courses.
NOTE - MNS (Military Nursing Services) aspirants seeking admission to BSc Nursing Course being conducted at Armed Forces Medical Service Hospitals for the year 2025 are required to qualify NEET and the NEET score will be used for short listing for selection to the four year BSc Nursing course.
About NEET
The NEET (UG) is being conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) since 2019 with the approval of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Ministry of Human Resource Development (which is now known as the Ministry of Education), in pursuance of the direction of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India vide Judgement dated 22.11. 2018 in C.A. No. 11230 of 2018 in the matter of CBSE Vs. T.K. Rangarajan & Ors. (Para 22).
As per Section 14 of the National Medical Commission Act, 2019, the NEET (UG) has to be conducted as a common and uniform National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test [NEET (UG)] for admission to undergraduate courses in each of the disciplines i.e. MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BUMS, BHMS, BSMS, Veterinary Sciences & Nursing (AFMC) courses of the Indian System of Medicine in all Medical Institutions governed under this Act.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must be born between 1st October 2000 & 30th September 2008 (both days inclusive).

Only for Female Candidates.

The candidate must be12th pass with First Class in PCB & English with not less than 50% marks as a regular student from a Statutory/ Recognized Board/ University/ Examining Body.

The candidate should be unmarried/ divorced/ legally separated/ widow without encumbrances.

The candidate must be an Indian Citizen.

Physical Standards – Medical fitness for this course will be decided by the medical board conducted as per the standards and criteria prescribed and amended from time to time. The minimum height required for entry into Armed Forces for female candidate is 152 cm. Candidates from Hill & North Eastern States will be accepted with a minimum height of 147 cm. An allowance for growth of 2 cm will be made for candidates below 18 years at the time of examination.

Mode of Selection
The selection will be based on the merit of the candidate at an All India Rank level in NEET (UG) 2025.

STEP 1 – Apply with NEET (UG) 2025 score.

STEP 2 – Screening Process
(A) Short-listing of Candidates – Shortlisting of Candidates will be done through NEEt (UG) 2025 score. The reference numbers of the candidates who are shortlisted for screening process will be displayed at the website – www.joinindianarmy.nic.in . The shortlisted candidates will have to appear for ToGIGE, Psychological Assessment, Interview & Medical examination at Base Hospital Delhi Cantt. The admit card for the same can be downloaded from the website.
NOTE - Request for change of date of screening process will NOT be entertained except under extreme circumstances.
(B) Verification of Documents - All the shortlisted candidates are required to produce originals of all Documents listed in the admit card at the time of screening process at BHDC. In case the candidate is not in possession of original documents at the time of screening, she must produce an original receipt from the institution where the original documents are deposited. An undertaking to this effect must also be given by the candidates to produce all original documents at the time of admission.
NOTE – The shortlisted candidates if not in possession of documents as per eligibility criteria or at any stage of the selection process, or if it is found that the information provided has been willfully concealed or misrepresented will lead to disqualification from the selection process/ loss of candidature.
(C) Test of General Intelligence & General English (ToGIGE – ToGIGE will be in the form of CBT consisting of 40 MCQs of 2 marks each for maximum marks of 80. There will be negative mark of 0.5 for every incorrect answer. These 40 questions will be required to be answered in 30 mins.
(D) Psychological Assessment & Interview - General Knowledge, Current Affairs & their interests, hobbies etc.thAll shortlisted candidates will undergo Psychological Assessment and Interview by a Board of Officers at Base Hospital, Delhi Cantt. The candidates may be asked questions on the core subjects upto class 12.
(E) Medical Examination – All candidates have to be medically fit keeping in view, the specific training requirements, charter of duties and level of fitness desired for candidates to join MNS. All shortlisted candidates will undergo Special Medical Board (SMB) at Base Hospital, Delhi Cantt. Candidates will be informed about their medical status on completion of medical examination. -
STEP 3 – Final Selection
The Final list will be based on the combined Merit of NEET (UG) 2025 scores + ToGIGE score + Psychological Assessment & Interview, subject to medical fitness.
Merit List will be prepared and colleges will be allocated to the selected candidates based on the merit cum choice, subject to seats available at each college. The list will be available on the JIA website. -
STEP 4 – Admission to the Colleges
The Candidate, if offered admission shall execute an Agreement/ Bond to serve Armed Forces Medical Services as Military Nursing Service (MNS) officer. During the training, they will be provided with free ration, accommodation, uniform allowance & monthly stipend as per the rules amended from time to time.
