The Google Science Fair is an online science competition sponsored by Google, LEGO Education, National Geographic, Virgin Galactic and Scientific American. All students must haev an internet connection and a free Google Account to participate as the projects are submitted through Google sites in English, German, Italian, Spanish, french and few languages added this year are Arabic, Hebrew, Polish, japanese, Russian, Turkish, etc.

Students can participate either as an individual or as part of a group consisting of up to three members.

 

Categories for Participation

 

  • 13-15 years
  • 16-18 years

 

and one of the following three Regions as follows:

  • The Americans,
  • APAC (Asia, Pacific)
  • Europe/Africa/Middle East

 

How to Apply

 

  • Sign up by visiting the link given below and click 'Start your Project' button.
  • If you’re not sure where to start, you can get help by taking a look at 'Student resources' and also by checking some of the previous winners.
  • If, you are partcipating as one of the member of your team then you can all sign up individually, but you’ll need to link your dashboards together so you can all work on the same project.
  • One team member sends the unique Team Code, which everyone has on their dashboard, to the other team members (if your teammate hasn’t received an invite you’ve sent, ask them to check their email junk/spam box). The other team members can enter this code either when they register, or on their project dashboard if they’ve already registered. Once they’ve done this, any work that they’ve done on their own project will be lost.

 

Complete and Submit your Entry

 

  • You (or your Team Leader if a Team) may submit Your (or Team’s) Entry any time during the Open Call for Entries. 
  • Entries will not be automatically Entered. You Or Your team leader if a team) must hit submit for your (or team's)
  • Entry to be considered entered into the competition.

Entrants can select one (1) of the following topics as a main topic and up to two (2) sub topics for their Entry:

  • Flora & Fauna
  • Food Science
  • Earth & Environmental Sciences
  • Inventions & Innovation
  • Electricity & Electronics
  • Robotics
  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Physics
  • Behavioral & Social Sciences
  • Energy & Space
  • Astrophysics
  • Computer Science & Math

 

Selection Process

 

  • Entries will be placed by the Sponsor and/or Judging Panel (as defined below) into the Category that they determine, in Sponsor’s and/or the Judging Panel’s sole discretion, best represents the Entry subject matter for judging purposes (although the Judging Panel will take the Entrants’ topic selections into consideration when placing the Entries into a Category: Experimenting Category or Engineering Category).

 

EXPERIMENTING CATEGORY INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING TOPICS: Behavioral & Social Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental, Flora & Fauna, Food Science

ENGINEERING CATEGORY INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING TOPICS: Astrophysics, Energy & Space, Physics, Electricity & Electronics, Inventions & Innovations, Robotics, Computer Science & Math
