About Us

The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) is a public, deemed, research university for higher education and research in science, engineering, design, and management. It is located in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The institute was established in 1909 with active support from Jamsetji Tata and thus is also locally known as the Tata Institute. It was granted a deemed university status in 1958 and recognized as an Institute of Eminence in 2018.

Courses Offered & Eligibility Criteria

COURSE	ELIGIBILITY
BTech Mathematics & Computing [4 years].	The candidate must be 12^th pass or equivalent with minimum 60% from recognized board. The candidate must have PCM + Any 1 Language subjects - mandatory to be eligible for admissions here. Indian Citizens are eligible to apply here. AGE - Candidate must be qualified in any one of the exams mentioned above, and the exam result must be valid as on 01 August 2025.
Bachelor of Science (Research) [4 years].	Candidates who have Completed their 10+2 (or equivalent) examination in 2023,2024 and also those who are expecting to complete their 10+2 (or equivalent) examination in 2025. The candidates must have studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as main subjects in their qualifying exam along with any other subjects. The candidates must have secured a first-class or 60% or equivalent grade (relaxed to pass class for SC/ST candidates) in the qualifying examination (i.e., 10+2 or equivalent) AGE - Candidate must be qualified in any one of the exams mentioned above, and the exam result must be valid as on 01 August 2025.

Admission Process

Candidate willing to seek admission here in any of the above mentioned course must apply with Valid scores of ;

JEE Advanced 2025 Score.
IISER – IAT 2025 Score.

Scholarships

All the students who join the Institute are eligible for a scholarship from the INSPIRE/ IISc Promotional Scheme(IIScP), depending upon their mode of entry. Scholarships from many Indian and multinational agencies and business houses are also available for meritorious students. The scholarship amount may vary for different scholarships agencies as per norms.

Reimbursement of Travelling Expenses

Candidates who join the Institute are eligible for reimbursement of Second-Class Railway / Bus fare by the shortest route from the place of residence to the Institute. This is as follows:

For attending the counseling (both ways)
For joining the Institute (one way).

A duly filled-in TA form with journey tickets should be submitted to the Admissions Unit within 15 days of joining the Institute. Beyond this period, no claim will be accepted.
