About Us
Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) was established on October 17, 1962. It was formally inaugurated by the then Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, on July 8, 1963. On trifurcation of Punjab State in November 1966, Haryana Agricultural University (HAU) was carved out of PAU by an Act of Parliament in February 1970. In 2006, the College of Veterinary Science was upgraded to Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) at Ludhiana.
College of Agriculture, Palampur, established under the aegis of PAU, was transferred to Himachal Pradesh University in 1970, which later led to the establishment of Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyala (CSKHPAKV), Palampur, in 1978. Later Dr Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture & Forestry, Solan, was carved out of CSKHPKV in 1985. Punjab Agricultural University rightly reserves the claim to be the vanguard of multiple State Agricultural Universities.

* Self-supporting Programme
# i) The students of B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture 2+4 year programme will study the basic courses of 10+2 (Medical stream) at Institutes of Agriculture (IOA) at Bathinda and Gurdaspur. The students will shift to B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture programme at PAU, Ludhiana, only after clearing all their courses at IOA, Bathinda and Gurdaspur.
ii) The students admitted in B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture 2+4 year through AAT with 10+2 qualification will not be allowed any exemption of courses of 10+2 standard.
iii) The shifting of students of B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture 2+4 year programme will not be allowed from Institute of Agriculture, Gurdaspur to Institute of Agriculture, Bathinda and vice versa.
iv) The first two years of B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture 2+4 year degree programme will be equivalent to 10+2 (Medical stream) standard of Punjab School Education Board, Mohali. The students after completion of B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture programme will be issued certificates of 10+2 (equivalent) and B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture separately.
Eligibility Criteria

Candidate must be 12th pass or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/ Biology/ Agriculture/ Two year Diploma in Agriculture with at least 50% marks in aggregate.

Candidate must be 12th Pass or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with at least 50% marks in aggregate for Btech degree (Compulsory).

The Candidate must appear for Entrance Exam(s) (BSET, AAT & CET).
Admission Process
-
Only those candidates who are residents of Punjab or Union Territory of Chandigarh are eligible for seeking admission.

Additional counselling for admission to UG degree programmes, if needed, may be held, on the basis of the PAU Entrance Test. After exhausting the CET list, vacant seats shall be offered on All-India basis by calling applications through online mode on the basis of merit of +2 marks subject to the eligibility. The Question Paper will consist of sections - Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/ Biology/ Agriculture.
NOTE

All the programmes of the University are full-time programmes. A student, therefore, cannot take admission in more than one programme simultaneously and also cannot take up any job.

5-year Integrated M.Sc. (Hons) students are eligible for B.Sc. degree after 3 years if the student leaves the programme after fulfilling the requirements.

> Downloaded Prospectus Charges + Entrance Test Fee for each Test – Rs 3500.
> For candidates who apply for multiple Entrance Tests – Rs 3500 + Rs 1500 for each.
> For admission without Entrance Test, Download Prospectus charges + counselling/Interview charges – Rs 2000. -
