About the Competition
The International Student Essay Writing Competition 2026 gives young writers an opportunity to express their ideas, creativity and perspectives on important topics affecting the world.
The competition aims to encourage students to develop their writing skills, critical thinking and creativity, while providing opportunities for prizes and recognition at both the individual and school level.
Eligibility Criteria
The competition is open to students across different grade levels and nationalities.
Students will participate in one of the following categories:
- Category A – Sub-Junior: Grades 3–5
- Category B – Junior: Grades 6–8
- Category C – Senior: Grades 9–12
Students of any nationality can participate.
Essay Topics
Category A – Sub-Junior
Grades 3–5
Topic: How Children Can Make the World Better
Students can write about how small actions by children can contribute to a better world.
Students are encouraged to include a personal story or example and explain how children can contribute at home, at school and in their communities.
The essay can focus on kindness, teamwork, responsibility, friendship and care for the environment, ending with a positive and hopeful message.
Category B – Junior
Grades 6–8
Topic: If I Could Solve One Global Problem
Students should select one major global problem, explain why it is important and suggest their own ideas for solving it.
Students should focus on one problem, use relevant examples or facts and present their ideas in a clear and organised manner.
Category C – Senior
Grades 9–12
Topic: Can Artificial Intelligence Become a Better Teacher Than Humans?
Students are invited to explore the growing role of Artificial Intelligence in education and compare the strengths and limitations of AI and human teachers.
The essay should include a balanced comparison of AI and human teachers and present the student's own opinion with supporting reasons.
Students are encouraged to demonstrate critical thinking, use real-world examples and end with a thoughtful conclusion.
Submission Guidelines
Students must follow the specified submission requirements:
- Essay must be written in English
- Essays must be typed
- Handwritten essays will not be accepted
- Submit the essay in MS Word or Google Docs format
- Accepted file formats: DOC/DOCX
- There is no compulsory font, font size or line-spacing requirement
- The participant's name and essay title are not included in the word count
- Recommended format: Arial, size 12, black
- Students may choose their own essay title based on the given topic
- An image may be included, but it is optional
