About the Olympiad

The Indian Space Science Olympiad (ISSO) 2026, organized by Edu Mithra Intellectual Services Pvt. Ltd., is a national-level space science competition designed to inspire school students to explore the fascinating world of astronomy, astrophysics, space technology, and space exploration.


Eligibility Criteria

The Olympiad is open to:

  • Students studying in Class 5 to Class 12
  • Students must be Indian citizens residing in India
  • Since the examination is conducted in English, participants should have a good understanding of the language.

Categories

Participants are divided into four categories:

  • Sub-Junior: Class 5–6
  • Junior: Class 7–8
  • Senior: Class 9–10
  • Super Senior: Class 11–12

Competition Structure

The Indian Space Science Olympiad is conducted in two stages.

Stage I – National Screening Examination

  • Online Examination
  • Objective-type questions
  • Conducted through a webinar under webcam supervision
  • Tests knowledge of:
    • Astronomy & Astrophysics
    • Space Missions (ISRO, NASA, ESA and more)
    • Satellite Communication
    • Rocketry & Space Technology
    • Planetary Science
    • Space Physics


Stage II – National Final Round

Students qualifying Stage I will participate in:

  • Three-day Offline Space Science Workshop
  • Interactive learning sessions
  • Hands-on activities
  • Final Offline Examination

The final examination determines the National Champions.
