Punjab Engineering College (PEC) having its roots in Lahore as Mugalpura Engineering College since 1921, moved to its present campus in 1953 as PEC affiliated to Panjab University. The institute became Deemed University in 2003 through a MHRD notification. It is a Grant-in-Aid institution under the administration of the Union Territory of Chandigarh, Government of India. The institute has a 146 acres sprawling and pious campus and is a house of Chandigarh College of Architecture also. The academic and administrative processes are similar to IITs in the country. The institute's governance is through a vibrant Board of Governors. The institute is headed by a Director on 5 years tenure; a position, which is equivalent to Vice Chancellor of Universities.

Bachelor of Design is devised to pursue excellence in design thinking, design techniques and design practices for the betterment of society holistically. It is equipped with the usage of innovative tools with an integrated humanistic approach to design products, services and systems. The coursework combines the latest technological innovations with integral designing methodologies that drive innovation, build a successful business and lead to a better quality of life. It seeks to delve deeper into understanding technological, commercial and social contexts in the conception, development and delivery of innovative products and services as well as tools, techniques and methods required in the practices of design.

Admission Eligibility

 

CANDIDATES WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN ADMISSION PROCESS

 

1. Candidates must have passed the 12th class examination (Science, Commerce and Humanities/Arts) in the 10+2 pattern of examination of any recognized Central/State Board of Examination. The candidates who have appeared in the 12th class Board examination in the year 2021, 2022 or 2023 will be eligible for admission provided they fulfil all other eligibility requirements.

Note: Aspirants who have appeared at the annual 12th class examination in the year 2023 and have been placed in compartment or result pending may be given provisional admission. However, his/her admission may be cancelled retrospectively if he/she fails to produce the result latest by 15th September, 2023.

AND

 

Candidates with marks in National Level Entrance Examinations – 2023 (UCEED/ NID DAT / JEE Main paper 2/ NATA). The marks will be normalized at the score of 100 (NOT Rank) by PEC. In case of a candidate appeared in “more than one” National Examination-2023 (UCEED/ NID DAT / JEE Main paper 2/ NATA), the “best score marks” in the National Level Examinations-2023 need to be filled by the candidate for normalizing the score out-of 100.

 

2. Inter-se merit for admission in case of tie in normalized marks of National Level Entrance Examinations – 2023 (UCEED/ NID DAT/ JEE Main paper 2/ NATA) will be resolved in the following manner in descending order:


A. A candidate will be preferred based on 12th class STREAM as per the following manner in descending order: i. Science ii. Commerce iii. Humanities/Arts

B. The candidate with higher percentage of marks in 12th Class examinations will be ranked higher.

C. The candidate older in age will be ranked higher.

For the purpose of allocating seats,

candidates are also assigned a state code of eligibility.

i. Chandigarh Region Those candidates, who have passed the qualifying examination (12th) from schools/colleges located in the Union Territory of Chandigarh and recognized by the Chandigarh Administration, are considered under the Chandigarh Quota.

ii. Outside Chandigarh Region Candidates All other candidates who have passed their qualifying examination from elsewhere, fall under the Other than Chandigarh Quota.
