About the Contest
The Ministry of Education, Department of School Education & Literacy, in collaboration with MyGov, is organizing an Essay Writing Contest titled "Revisiting the Emergency After 50 Years". The aim is to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Emergency (June 25, 1975 – March 21, 1977) and encourage thoughtful reflection on its impact on democracy, constitutional rights, press freedom, and citizen liberties in contemporary India.
Eligibility Criteria
Open to all Indian citizens.
Submission Guidelines
Essay Length: Typically between 1,500 – 2,500 words.
Certification & Recognition
- Participants will receive certificates of participation/appreciation upon submission.
- Selected essays will be showcased on official government digital platforms, supporting a collective memory initiative.
