The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is designed to help you study or work to a country with English as the native language.  Ability to listen, read, write and speak in English are assessed during the test. It is jointly owned by the British Council and IDP.

 

Why take IELTS?

 

English is the third most spoken language in the world. To communicate effectively in an international country and be at par with the natives, IELTS test is to be taken.

 

How is IELTS score marked?

 

The score is marked in the form of band scoring system, the highest being 9 that shows Expert level user and that the use of English is appropriate, accurate and fluent and shows complete understanding. The higher the score, the better it is. It reflects a better understanding and ability to communicate in English.

 

How long is IELTS valid?

 

Once taken, the scores are valid for a duration of 2 years. Although, if you have received lower or unsatisfactory scores, you may reattempt for improvement.

 

Is it mandatory to take all the sections on the same day?

 

Listening, Reading and Writing sections are to be attempted on the same day, without any breaks. Speaking test may be attempted within 7 days of taking the first test.

 

What can I take into the examination room?

 

Basic stationery of pens, pencils and erasers along with your passport or national identity card that has been used on the IELTS application form.

 

When are the results out?

 

The results are declared after 13 calendar days from the test date.
