History

Introduction

All facets of human civilization are studied in the field of history, which is “the study of change over time”. Historical advancements include those that are social, political, economic, scientific, technological, medical, intellectual, religious, cultural, and even military. Professional historians typically focus on a particular area of history, era in history, method of approaching history, or geographical area. Historical processes involve complex relations between interrelated factors.

Understanding how past events shaped current events is one of the benefits of studying history. Learning from the past helps us understand who we are and how we got here, as well as how to prevent mistakes in the future and steer society in better directions.

History teaches us about things such as:

  • Why some societies thrive while others fail.
  • Why humans have gone to war.
